Eulogy to Colin Ventre

Colin had a long and varied career at Lakers. It all started with his apprenticeship as a pipefitter welder with Lakers Northern in 1974-1978.

After leaving Highfield Comprehensive School in Liverpool, he went onto to work between Lakers Northern & Vent Engineering (sister businesses) as a qualified pipefitter welder until his promotion to Foreman 1982.

In 1986 he became workshop Foreman at North Road workshops in 1986-1989, then moving into the head office, covering all areas such as estimating, purchasing, and project management.

Promoted to the Board of Directors in 1991. Colin then started to focus on the quality systems of the business and achieved BS5750 (now ISO9001) in 1994.

In 2000 he took over managing the Health & Safety aspects of the business full time as SHEQ Director.

Colin was key to the business developing into the success it has become and was the driving force behind the development of the quality systems that protect our business today. He will be greatly missed by everyone who interacted with him.

Our sincere condolences to Ian, Sian, Lois, Barry and families at this sad time.
